Children of Noboby
Children of Noboby
More than 120 million children and youth, almost 300 thousand Kenya, live on the street around the world, like homeless children, at the extreme edge of society, in slums without water, surrounded by foul-smelling sewage, feces, and garbage, risking being raped, rubbed and beaten every time the sun goes down. To escape from this hell, even just with the imagination, and to forget the horror that surrounds them, the only seemingly feasible solution they have is abusing drugs, particularly sniffing glue. Drug addiction, the absence of love and education, the constant fear and psychological stress, have damaged, sometimes permanently compromised, their cognitive abilities, making them completely apathetic and not aware of any social convention. Rehab can last up to a year, during the first months, they suffer hallucinations, nausea, tremors, or depression. Some run away from rehab at this stage, but those who remain learn how to have fun, the sense of duty, and the concept of community.
