It was like visiting another world. The power of nature, the smell of lava and sulfur, the hissing of the volcanic vents, the rumbling of the earth beneath one's feet. It was a demonstration of an underground force. It was also a demonstration of a power that cannot be influenced by us humans - and here on Iceland, fortunately, only damaged earth and moss.
