Imperial
Imperial
His name was Olobor, he was the leader of the Black Rock Boys coalition that ruled over the Maji ya Fisi and Rongai prides in Kenya’s Maasai Mara. The strongest of the originally five males, he was domineering, even unusually violent, and always seeking to expand his and his brothers’ empire. While we sometimes have conflicted feelings about the savage side of nature, starkly evident in him, in his own way he was how a male lion has to be, how he should be. Until he was killed by man — one more entry buried in the endless record of our ruin.
Author
Fabian has lost his heart to the wild and has been using the camera to share this passion since he was seven years old. His running project "Once Upon a Time in the Wild" is both love letter and eulogy to the world’s astonishing animals and the wild places they inhabit — unapologetic in its display of nature’s beauty, yet tinged with melancholy about our destructive influence on the foundations of life on Earth.
